Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Wine Sommelier to join our team in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt. As our Wine Sommelier, you will be responsible for curating our wine selection, providing expert recommendations to guests, and enhancing the overall dining experience through your extensive knowledge and enthusiasm for wine.
Recommend and sell wines and other beverages to guests, ensuring a high-quality customer experience
Develop and maintain an extensive wine list, keeping it up-to-date with new selections and pricing
Train front-of-house staff and chefs on wine knowledge, food pairing, and service standards
Conduct wine tastings and educational sessions for both staff and guests
Manage wine inventory, including stock control, ordering, and storage
Collaborate with the head chef to create wine pairings for menu items
Ensure proper wine service standards are maintained throughout the establishment
Stay informed about wine trends, new vintages, and emerging wine regions
Assist in organizing wine-related events and promotions
Maintain relationships with wine suppliers and distributors
Contribute to the overall guest experience by providing knowledgeable and friendly service
Qualifications
Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Sommelier in a high-end restaurant or hotel
Advanced level certification from a recognized wine education program (e.g., Court of Master Sommeliers, Wine & Spirit Education Trust)
Extensive knowledge of wine regions, varietals, production methods, and food pairings
Excellent sensory evaluation skills for wine tasting and analysis
Strong sales and customer service skills with a focus on enhancing the guest experience
Fluency in English; knowledge of additional languages is a plus
Proven ability to train and educate staff on wine knowledge and service standards
Experience in inventory management and wine cellar organization
Proficiency in using point-of-sale systems and inventory management software
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
Knowledge of local wine preferences and regulations in Egypt is advantageous
High school diploma or equivalent; higher education in hospitality or related field is preferred
