Introduction
We are seeking a Development Engineer to join our Screening team to support the development of application and sizing technology for the selection and use of screens and feeders (both in algorithm and software). This role is central to the screening business line (SCB) and requires a comprehensive understanding of different screening applications to develop and validate the sizing logic as well as implementation in Metso flow‑sheet design and simulation calculation, including but not limited to mass balance, critical parameter calculation used in the mining and aggregate industries. Your role plays a crucial part in contributing to our business.
This position reports to the Global Product and Application Development Manager and is mainly located in Sorocaba, Brazil with up to 15‑20% travel (domestic/international).
Team
You will join the Global Mining Screens team dedicated to Research, Technology and Development (RTD). We are currently working on various global projects, working closely with the entire Global Metso team and reputable mining companies. Team members are primarily located in Brazil, Germany, India, China and Australia.
What you’ll do
Design, configure and deploy screen sizing module into Metso’s HSC & Bruno system.
Support SCB (Screen Business Line) application configurator and modularisation development.
Aide the screening product development by contributing to functional specifications, control narratives, and design documentation.
Use application knowledge in mineral processing to support development for testing, continuous product improvement on screening and feeder products.
Work with the Regional application team and the lab manager to design screen testing plans, conduct and guide lab / field tests as needed.
Participate in project planning and execution, coordinating with stakeholders across SCB, other BAs.
Attend conferences and presentations when appropriate; good presentation and communication skills are highly desirable.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and internal quality procedures.
Who you are
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics with process background or Mining Engineering.
Experience designing or operating mineral process equipment or plants, especially screens.
Experience with Mineral PFD, mass balance and process simulation software is a plus.
Experience with PLC, HMIs, SCADA platforms is a plus.
Analytical and problem‑solving skills, effective communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaborate with colleagues globally.
Fluency in English is a must for global team collaboration.
Knowledge of safety standards and regulations applicable to the mining industry.
