Monitor gauges, alarms, and general conditions of machinery and equipment. Inform the superiors on duty regarding any irregularities. Carry out all regular maintenance and breakdown maintenance in a safe, efficient and timely manner, as directed by the Chief Engineer.Inspects and maintains equipment such as pumps, valves, motors, turbines, deck machinery, and condensers, and prepares record of condition. Lubrication and maintaining machinery and equipment such as generators, steering systems, and sewage/bilge/ballast systems, and cleaning and restoring tools and equipment.Ensures elimination of the faults revealed throughout technical equipment and mechanisms.Responsible for the safe and correct execution of the items in the preventive maintenance program that are assigned to him.To be aware regarding the disposition of the tanks & cisterns available on the vessel, to take the watch according to the vessel schedule.To inform Captain and C/E immediately regarding any discrepancies & damageSuggesting management on the process improvements, as well as resolution methods of potential or existing problems.Rescue works performance is considered as one of the main functions.
