The Role
**About the role**
BMT Canada is looking for an Electrical Technologist to join our growing team in Victoria. In this role you will execute work in support of client taskings in the field of Electrical Engineering, specifically:
- Is responsible for providing general and electrical engineering advice and support to internal
and external clients.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops;
reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in
professional societies.
- Manages, trains, directs, and supports the work of team members allocated to engineering
taskings.
- Maintains a high level of knowledge of electrical engineering and Naval design rules and
implications of naval design requirements on ships/submarine design.
- Contributes technical specialist expertise or practical knowledge to internal discussions as
relevant to projects and taskings.
- Completes projects and taskings by training and guiding junior engineers and technologists.
- Develops and reviews electrical designs.
- Assures system design and deliverable quality is of a high standard by confirming that it meets
the client’s requirements.

**About you**
We are looking for enthusiastic and flexible team members, who possess the following knowledge, experience, and skills:
Essential:
- Engineering Diploma of Technology.
- 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering
- Excellent communication skills.
- Eligible for a Canadian security clearance
Desirable:
- Provincial certification for Certified Engineering Technologists.
- Detailed knowledge and experienced on the operation of naval systems.
- Experience in the in-service support of naval systems and/or engineering design.
- Experience in the development and use of technical studies and drawings.
- An understanding of specifications for government and commercial vessels
- Experience in systems integration, ship construction and/or repair.
