The office culture fosters in-person collaboration and innovation.The opportunity: As a Design Manager at TELUS, you will mentor, inspire, and grow cross-functional product teams (designers, researchers, and strategists) within our product consulting business. You will lead and influence creative direction while remaining connected to design work. Some travel to clients and other offices is required.ResponsibilitiesSet the tone for projects by turning early ideas into seamless experiences.Provide guidance on client communication and pixel-level detail.Encourage designers to push beyond their comfort zones to deliver their best work.Apply strategic thinking to engage clients with TELUS capabilities.Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams (engineering, content, project management) to orchestrate a smooth experience for clients and teams.Define conceptual and visual direction for well-known brands.Validate design decisions through user research, feedback, quantitative insights, and best practices.Build relationships with clients and guide the team through challenges to deliver the best product.Present and articulate design decisions to clients throughout all phases.Approximately 70% of time spent with project teams on mission-critical Fortune 500 projects; 30% spent managing individual contributors.Manage approximately 5–8 direct reports.Qualifications10+ years in the design industry.English proficiency at C1 or C2 level.Experience mentoring or managing other designers.Ability to deliver growth feedback to teammates.Shipped products impacting thousands of users; recent leadership of design teams.Strong understanding of the product development process from problem definition to implementation.Strong opinions about visual and user experience design while remaining open to new perspectives.A portfolio demonstrating understanding of user and business needs, creative problem-solving, and mastery of visual design.Willingness to roll up your sleeves and push pixels when needed.Experience presenting complex ideas to clients and team members clearly and energetically.Client-focused, empathetic, and capable of delivering solutions when problems arise.Alignment with our core values and design goals to positively influence our design culture.Passion for technology and design, with interest in the intersection of both.Why TELUS DigitalWork with world-class brands like FOX, HBO, PepsiCo, and Domino’s to build transformative digital products.
