It is at the forefront of shaping how finance can be used to facilitate a real economy transition, by designing, testing, and scaling financial solutions that enable capital to flow where it can deliver the greatest impact in the real economy.Bridging the gap between committed capital and impactful solutions, the GFI delivers positive outcomes for climate and nature by aligning policy, development capital, and pipeline development. As a commercially focused philanthropically funded organisation working with governments and partnering with financial institutions, corporates, NGOs, policymakers, academics and civil society experts, the GFI has mobilised £77bn in committed capital over six years.The GFI is headquartered in London and has a presence in eight countries including Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, Indonesia, the Philippines, Scotland, Singapore, and Spain, and its missions work in built environment, CDR, energy, transportation and nature.The Green Finance Institute in BrazilThe GFI, supported by the Brazilian Ministries of Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC) and of Mines and Energy (MME) and the UK Government (DESNZ), is working directly with priority projects in industrial decarbonization and low-carbon hydrogen, with a focus on driving them toward financial close. To strengthen project narratives for potential equity and debt investors, GFI is also advising the Brazilian Government on policy measures to create clearer sectoral transition pathways. GFI is informing policymakers on de-risking instruments aligned with neo-industrialization priorities, such as green incentives, green public procurement, long-term demand guarantees, and other tools that reduce revenue volatility. By convening finance, industry, and government, GFI helps build investable project pipelines, co-create solutions, and attract private capital by reducing risk and transaction costs.What's the role?This is an exciting role for an experienced financial practitioner looking to support and drive the net-zero transition in Brazil, applying their financial skillset to mobilise investment into clean technology sectors.We are looking for a proactive and engaged individual with strong experience in financial modelling within a financial institution, corporate or consultancy setting, who can bring expertise in financial analysis, due diligence and project finance deal execution.Based in the GFI Brazil team, this role provides an opportunity to spearhead the financial modelling and analysis that will a) identify the barriers to commercialisation of clean technologies, and b) develop solutions to de-risk clean technologies. These activities will be a vital part of a wider effort to unlock commercially scalable industries in Brazil and will be directly supporting some ongoing project sponsors opportunities.As a Finance Expert, you will be engaging with a diverse range of domestic and global stakeholders including the priority project sponsors selected within the Brazil Decarbonization and Hydrogen Hubs. Your responsibilities will be broad, encompassing the management and delivery of project objectives while providing specialist support in financial analysis and modelling. This role provides an opportunity to develop deep expertise in green finance and contribute to shaping policies that support the adoption of new financial products and services.We'll trust you to:Assess and advice project sponsors on their sophisticated financial models to support transaction structuring, valuation, and risk analysis.Assess risk factors including climate risks, conduct sensitivity analysis, and provide insights to optimize financial structures.Work closely with banks, investors, and industry to test and refine financial structures to de-risk the priority projects and enhance their bankability.Monitor market trends, regulatory changes, and financing opportunities relevant to the sector.Provide guidance and mentorship to project sponsors, including support for their requests related to policy and regulatory enabler.Support the strategic direction of the projects and be responsible for elements of their day-to-day running, under the direction of the senior team.Build your expertise in green finance topics and areas of focus and contribute to supportive policy formation to accelerate the adoption of new products and services.Represent the Green Finance Institute at relevant industry events.You need to have:Strong proficiency in financial modelling (Excel, VBA preferred) and cash flow analysis.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.Outstanding interpersonal and relationship building skills with senior-level officials, partners and influencers across private and public sectors.Excellent written and oral communication skills with a proven capacity to translate information and big ideas into actionable plans.A strong independent work ethic in addition to an ability to work as part of an agile and fast-moving team.A genuine interest in environmental sustainability.High attention to detail and demonstrable research and analytical skills.Strong organisation skills and ability to handle multiple projects.We'd love to see:Experience in structuring and executing debt and equity transactions.Solid understanding of credit analysis, risk assessment, and capital markets.Strong understanding of Brazil financing gap requirement and understanding of the complex interplay of high capital needs and significant layered risks that currently discourage private financiers.Experience within the Brazilian Finance landscapeIf this sounds like you:Please apply by submitting your CV and a short cover letter (of no more than two sides).
