Job Summary
The Radio Operator plays a vital role in maintaining communication with ships and emergency services during offshore operations. This position requires a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.
Main Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining VHF and Airband radio watch, assisting the main Administrator onboard, and completing transmission of manifests for helicopter and supply vessel operations. They will also assist with filing, copying, printing documents, and daily record keeping and administration duties as directed by the Master or OCM/Superintendent. In addition, they will be responsible for refusing unsafe work and carrying out all work in accordance with established safety standards and work practices. The Radio Operator will also participate in emergency and occupational onboard training, wear, inspect, and care for required personal protective equipment, and inform relevant personnel of the expected time of arrival of supply boats.
Key Requirements
To excel in this role, candidates must possess strong technical skills, including proficiency in using various communications devices such as SSB and VHF radios, fax, and electronic mail. They should also have excellent interpersonal skills, teamwork experience, and a proactive approach to information gathering. Additionally, the ideal candidate will hold valid medical certificates, radio operator licenses, and STCW certifications. Preferred qualifications include practical computer skills, agility, initiative, self-control, memory capacity, attention focused, good communication, verbal fluency, and good interpersonal skills.
