Applicant lists may be screened more than once. Why Does the Job Exist? This part-time position is responsible for assessing patients' health problems and needs. The incumbent will develop and implement nursing care plans and administer care to ill, injured, convalescent, and/or disabled patients. Responsibilities include providing training and advising patients on health maintenance, disease prevention, and case management. How Does It Get Done? Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records. Administer medications to patients and monitor for reactions or side effects. Record patients' medical information and vital signs. Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions. Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans. Who are the customers? Residents at a long-term care facility. Ideal Candidate Will have: The ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. The ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public. Knowledge of nursing and medical practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to nursing care facilities. The ability to function independently, with flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies. Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico, or be eligible for licensure or a temporary license as per New Mexico requirements. Must also have at least five (5) years of relevant experience. Employment Requirements This position is safety sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random drug/alcohol testing, background checks, and conditional employment pending results. Must possess a valid RN license in New Mexico and complete HIPAA training. Working Conditions Work performed throughout the nursing service area. Intermittent movement and frequent interruptions. Contact with residents, personnel, visitors, and agencies under various conditions. Exposure to hostile or upset individuals and infectious waste/diseases. May require working beyond normal hours, including weekends and holidays. Must be able to push, pull, move, and lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
