Senior Security Operations Engineer – Canonical
Join to apply for the Senior Security Operations Engineer role at Canonical. The Canonical Security Operations team is hiring a Senior or Staff engineer to lead, mentor, and deliver world‑class security solutions.
As a member of the Security Operations Center (SOC), you will design, build, and operate a world‑class SOC, provide operational and engineering leadership, mentor early‑career engineers, and contribute to the open‑source ecosystem through research, publications, and community sharing.
Responsibilities
Provide operational and engineering leadership.
Implement and evolve Canonical’s Security Operations Center.
Design and develop security software and platforms.
Monitor, identify, respond to, and remediate security incidents.
Assess and improve Canonical’s security controls.
Mentor early‑career Security Operations engineers.
Plan and deliver work within Canonical’s agile engineering framework.
Contribute to open source security.
Publish blog posts, whitepapers, and conference presentations.
Key Qualifications
Exceptional academic track record.
Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM, or a compelling alternative path.
10+ years of relevant professional experience.
Professional cybersecurity experience, preferably with an SOC.
Professional engineering experience.
Eager to contribute to open source security.
Proficiency in Python and Bash.
Knowledge of Git, GitOps, IaC, and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
Desirable
Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST CSF, CIS CSC, ISO کنار 27001.
Knowledge of security architecture and leading‑edge tools.
Experience in a SOC or security operations team.
Hands‑on offensive or defensive security experience.
Proficiency in additional programming languages, such as Golang.
