About Able
Able is the AI front office for Wholesale Plumbing, HVAC, and Electrical Suppliers. We're automating the soul-crushing manual work that buries inside sales teams - starting with fixture quoting.
The Wholesale Supply market is a $350B+ market running on spreadsheets and tribal knowledge. We're building the infrastructure to change that.
About the Role
Founding Engineer, with a focus on shipping Agents. You'll spec features, debug weird edge cases, scale infrastructure and help us figure out what to build next based on what customers actually need.
We're not looking for someone who needs a roadmap handed to them. We're looking for somebody who wants to help build the roadmap. If you see a problem, you fix it. If you don't know something, you learn it.
What we're looking for
* 3 to 5 years of Software Engineering experience
* Backend depth — you're comfortable owning a Python/FastAPI service end-to-end, from async request handling to data modeling to production debugging
* Agent & LLM Fluent - you understand how agentic systems work and the failure modes that arise
* Cloud comfortable - GCP, Firestore, Pub/Sub, Vercel, & Docker. You don't need to be an infra specialist but you shouldn't be scared of it
* Document intelligence - comfortable working with document parsing & extraction pipelines (OCR, layout analysis, structured extraction, etc)
You're Likely a Fit If
* You've designed, built, and shipped something with LLMs or Agents with real users
* You're comfortable making decisions and backing up your logic
* You default to shipping over planning. Iteration >
Perfection
* You've worked in an early-stage company before and are ready for the chaos
* You're a tinkerer - also playing around with new technologies or projects
What You'll Do
* Work with the Founding team to collect user feedback, design feature specs, implement updates, and deploy to production
* Work across the stack: Python/FastAPI, Next.Js/Typescript, Firebase, Docker, GCP, etc
* Debug production issues and make them obsolete
* Build and improve agent workflows using home grown frameworks
* Help shape the product roadmap
* Stay up to date on modern agent architectures/improvements and implement where
* necessary
