About the Role
We are a direct-to-consumer e-commerce furniture brand producing a high volume of product visuals that need to look realistic - not like CGI.
We are looking for a production-ready 3D artist who can model clean furniture assets and render photorealistic scenes on a consistent weekly cadence.
This is not a concept art role - the focus is on repeatable, high-quality production work.
What You Will Do
Create accurate 3D furniture models from CAD, 2D drawings, dimensions, and photo references
Build production ready materials and shaders for upholstery, leather, wood, metal, glass, stone
Light and render photoreal packshots and lifestyle scenes that match our brand style
Assemble scenes with correct scale, camera lens realism, and believable styling
Maintain and organize our 3D asset library with clear naming and version control
Support designers with modeling and rendering requests, including fast revisions
Deliver files in a format our team can reuse and update later
Core Deliverables (per week, based on workload)
New models or model updates for new launches
Packshot renders on white and transparent background
Lifestyle scene renders with consistent lighting and composition
Material library updates and reusable scene templates
Source files plus final exports
Tools & Technical Requirements
Advanced in 3Ds Max with V Ray or Corona
Strong poly modeling and clean topology
Advanced material creation, UVs, and texture workflows
Strong HDRI and studio lighting setups
Post production in Photoshop, plus basic color and realism polish
Ability to work from real world measurements and hit scale accuracy
AI Expectations
We expect you to use AI tools daily to move faster without sacrificing quality.
You should be comfortable using AI for reference gathering and mood boards
Scene and camera composition ideation
Material and texture iteration workflows
Quality checks and consistency checks across a batch
Writing clear handoff notes and change logs
Automating repetitive steps where possible
Nice To Have
Furniture experience
AR or VR pipeline familiarity
Substance painter or designer
Marvelous designer for soft goods or draping
Basic blender fluency if needed for handoff
What Good Looks Like
Your renders hold up next to product photography
Materials look right at close zoom
Wood grain direction is correct
Metal roughness looks real
Lighting feels like a real studio
You deliver on time and you do not miss details
Minimum Qualifications
2 plus years producing photoreal product renders
Portfolio with furniture or hard surface product work
Can handle multiple projects and tight deadlines
Strong file hygiene and self management
Working Style
Async is fine. You must overlap 2 to 3 hours per week with Pacific Standard Time for reviews.You must be able to take feedback and iterate fast.
Compensation
Monthly retainer or hourly, based on output and skill.Include your expected rate and availability.
