The Business Intelligence Developer II creates analytics content based on specifications from end‑user data needs or those communicated by Business Intelligence colleagues to support end users and leadership. The BID II possesses a strong understanding of the underlying data model and is skillful in developing data queries and data interactions. The BID II is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining data analysis tools and platforms that translate raw data into actionable insights for businesses. They accomplish this by developing and maintaining paginated reports, datasets, dashboards, reports, and visualizations within Epic and third‑party tools such as Power BI and Tableau.
Essential Responsibilities
Develop moderate to complex SQL solutions for the creation and maintenance of analytics assets.
Configure and test EHR (Epic) released and foundation system content for applications such as Reporting Workbench, SlicerDicer data models, Radar dashboards, and Cogito SQL.
Design and create custom content to display EHR data from databases such as Chronicles, Clarity, and Caboodle in organizationally designated tools such as Tableau, Power BI.
Distribute analytics content to data consumers and anticipate needs with minimal prompting.
Provide thorough education of tool and data usage to end users without support.
Provide development support for projects and sometimes lead projects with some support.
Review peer reports for validity.
Perform moderate to complex peer review of code such as SQL and DAX.
Work with subject matter experts to understand the needs of data consumers.
Respond to end‑user requests independently with professional communication.
Test analytics builds in specified testing environments, including designing basic test scripts when appropriate.
Review upgrade documentation for database features such as Clarity and Caboodle.
Maintain analytics catalog and metadata records.
Develop and maintain strong operational relationships.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree required.
3–5 years of experience in analytics (Business Intelligence, Data Engineering, Data Science, etc.) and at least 1 year using SQL, relational databases, and integration tools.
Healthcare IT experience preferred (analysis, programming, designing, testing, or implementing computer‑based systems).
Prior experience with an accounts receivable system or an EMR system preferred.

Data Visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc.) preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent oral and written communication with business partners across the enterprise.
Translate customer requests into business requirements with minimal support, and mentor junior developers in this effort.
Mentor junior level developers on communication effectiveness and coding practices.
Critical thinking and an analytical mindset with demonstrated ability to synthesize problems and generate logical, solutions‑focused responses.
Proficient SQL developer with a solid understanding of relational database concepts and Microsoft SQL Server and associated tools.
Design, build, and maintain data analysis tools, translating raw data into actionable insights, including EHR tools such as Epic.
Proficiency with third‑party visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
Understand relational database concepts, data structures, and data modeling, and apply performance tuning and design patterns.
Provide guidance to junior developers on complex problem solving and code reviews.
Strong understanding of healthcare business processes and technology preferred.
Intermediate understanding of clinical workflows and terminology preferred.
Prior experience with an EHR or accounts receivable system preferred.
Work independently and collaboratively within teams.
Ready to drive a personal vehicle to assigned sites and travel within and out of state as needed.
