What is the scope of this role?
The Finance Project Analyst will oversee financial performance for assigned projects, focusing on key metrics like budget consumption, invoicing, and cash flow. Responsibilities include preparing and analyzing financial reports, collaborating with Project Managers on resourcing and discrepancies, and supporting project closeouts. The role also involves managing vendor contracts, ensuring operational compliance, and escalating financial concerns. Additionally, the analyst will optimize processes, track project health, and assist with forecast, invoicing and payments.
Role & Responsibilities:
* Finance Project Analyst will act as a key contact for interpreting and investigating financial results for assigned projects
* Prepare, reconcile, analyze, and report project KPIs (LOE – level of effort, T&E, 3rd party Budget consumption, milestones acceptance, invoicing and cash receipts status)
* Review actual and planned resources, flag discrepancies to Project Managers
* Handle project closeout reconciliations and escalate issues as needed
* Analyze financial and business data for assigned projects and contracts
* Coordinate with Project Managers on change orders, project status, resourcing, and budgets
* Assist in developing regular financial status reports for projects
* As a Project Financial Analyst, you will record monthly revenue for contracts and communicate estimates to clients
* Monitor subcontractor and vendor contracts, acting as the contact point for external/internal resources
* Attend project meetings to support Project Managers and ensure accurate forecasting
* Track overall project health, including revenues, gross profit, receivables, and project closeouts
* Ensure that operational procedures are being followed by Project Teams
* Identify and work with team leads to resolve and/or escalate violations as needed
* Validate reports obtained from projects and ensure that the reports are provided on time
* Work with project team leads and program directors on operational support needs, set up and lead project meetings
* Assist with Resource plan baselines
* Review and manage exceptions and escalate to stakeholders as needed
* Process and distribute reports, defining tool requirements
* Analyze and monitor dashboard reports on every project created monthly
* Identify planned projects monthly
* Identify projects with Level of Effort (LOE) overage and escalate these to senior management
* Schedule invoices and assist in their payment
* Work with management to optimize processes
What skills and experience will you need for this role?
* 1-3 years experience working in financial analysis
* Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently
* Able to work well with others
* Able to use discretion while dealing with confidential matters
* Able to pay close attention to detail
* Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
* Knowledge of Project Management Standard and Great Plains system.
* Prior experience in project analysis and ASC 606 revenue recognition strongly preferred
* Prior experience in portfolio financial management and forecasting strongly preferred
* Significant past experience in an administrative position with responsibility for audit and processing tasks
* Ability to follow business rules and procedures while analyzing and identifying errors in processes and data
* Really good attention to detail
* Fluent English speaker
* Availability to work from office in hybrid mode
Education
* BSC in Accounting/Finance, or related field
