We are seeking a proactive and safety-conscious Design Assistant to support our faculty and ensure a secure, productive learning environment.The roleThis is a practical, workshop-based support role. You'll work alongside our Design & Technology teachers to keep lessons moving and students safe. Day-to-day, that means:Maintaining health and safety standards across the design studio spacesManaging materials inventory and preparing resources for lessonsSupporting students during practical sessions with troubleshooting, demonstrating, guidingOperating and maintaining equipment including hand tools, 3D printers, and laser cutters (training provided)Assisting with the upkeep of digital fabrication tools and CAD/CAM software where relevantWhat we are looking forExperience in a practical environment (workshop, fabrication lab, makerspace, construction, or similar)Comfortable working with and around young peopleAble to communicate clearly in English (daily interaction with students and international staff)Organised, reliable, and genuinely safety-conscious, not just box-tickingDesirableExperience in a school or educational settingFamiliarity with digital fabrication tools: 3D printing, laser cutting, CAD/CAM softwareFirst aid certification or formal health & safety trainingWhat you should knowThis role suits someone who takes pride in a well-run workspace and enjoys being around students who are engaged in making things. It does not suit someone who prefers a quiet office. The design studios are busy, the students are curious, and no two lessons are quite the same. Full training and ongoing professional development are provided.
