We are seeking a motivated and skilled individual to fill the role of Security Researcher Intern. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on various research projects, develop skills, and contribute to the growth of our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support research projects by developing processes, defining priorities, following deadlines, and delivering materials to relevant teams.
* Analyze malicious functionality in Windows x86/x64, MSIL, mobile threats, and web-related malware.
* Stay up-to-date with the latest malware threats affecting customers.
* Communicate with clients about adding detections.
* Participate in the development of unit-recommended practices and standards, assuming responsibility for accomplishing group goals.
* Suggest ideas for implementation in company products, prototyping development, and imagining new detection technologies.
* Create content, analyzing and describing malicious programs (malware), threat intel reports, and documentation on various topics.
* Presentation skills: presenting IT security to wide audiences (customers, internal sales, etc.).
* Monitor, analyze, and understand malware trends at local, regional, and global levels.
Requirements:
* Strong desire to learn and share research with teammates.
* Interest in malware analysis and security research.
* Knowledge of x86/x64 Intel Assembly (at least 1 year).
* Basic knowledge of WinAPI.
* Familiarity with IDA Disassembler, HIEW, OllyDbg, or Windbg to analyze PE files (at least 1 year).
* Executable file analysis skills in a hexadecimal editor (Hiew, 010, etc.).
* Deep knowledge in several areas, including mobile device security, statistical analysis, methods of protection against threats, security best practices, polymorphic malware, rootkits/bootkits, and knowledge of non-standard threats.
* Good understanding of file formats.
* Ability to analyze and understand malicious code (Windows PE, .Net, OLE2, JS, VBS, HTML, PDF, SWF, ELF).
* Good knowledge of Linux OS distributions, Linux API / kernel / POSIX standards.
* Excellent knowledge of Windows PE file format.
* Experience in programming languages (Python, C#, C, C++) [At least 1 year in any].
* Fluency in English is mandatory.
Bonus Skills:
* Hobby experience is strongly desired.
* Good communication skills; working with developers, analysts, researchers, marketing, PR, sales (etc.) using 'same language.'
* Good presentation skills.
* Technical article writing skills.
* Experience in developing tools and documentation for other researchers.
* Understanding of the 'big picture' of the IT Security industry + business.
