About the Role
As a Senior Solutions Architect (Composable Commerce) in our global Customer Success & Professional Services division, you will serve as the technical spearhead for Alokai’s most prestigious enterprise customers. We are revolutionizing composable commerce, empowering businesses to build flexible, high-performing online storefronts at the absolute forefront of composable architecture as a comprehensive Frontend as a Service (FaaS).
In this role, you will be the primary architect guiding high-scale digital transformations. Your first major engagement will involve architecting and optimizing a high-performance Next.js storefront for a massive, household consumer brand, decoupling their legacy monolithic backend (SAP Commerce Cloud) to deliver a blistering-fast, modern web experience.
You are not just a frontend developer; you are a system designer who understands the delicate balance between complex, heavy enterprise business logic (pricing engines, multi-tiered carts, ERP endpoints) and ultra-responsive frontend architectures.
Operating in a fully remote, global team of Solution Architects, Frontend Engineers, and Customer Success Managers, you will report directly to our Engineering Manager in Australia. This role demands a high level of autonomy, excellent self-onboarding capabilities, and the timezone flexibility needed to bridge APAC, Europe, and the Americas.
Core Responsibilities
* Architect Headless Storefronts: Lead the architectural design and technical delivery of next-generation headless storefronts using the Next.js version of Alokai, building upon customizable, ready-made UI components using Storefront UI.
* Orchestrate with Alokai Connect: Design and optimize our Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) layer using Alokai Connect. Leverage the Unified Data Layer (UDL) to map data smoothly from SAP Commerce Cloud's OCC (Omnicommerce Channel) REST APIs without degrading frontend Core Web Vitals.
* Preserve SmartEdit Content Workflows: Architect decoupled frontend solutions that seamlessly support and preserve SAP SmartEdit preview, editing, and content management context through Alokai's ready-made integration, ensuring marketing teams retain complete operational control.
* Consult & Advise on Complex Logic: Collaborate with client engineering teams to determine where complex business logic (e.g., custom B2B pricing matrixes, tier-based checkouts, payment gateway integrations) should live, ensuring the frontend layer remains performant, decoupled, and maintainable.
* Conduct Code Audits & Reviews: Lead comprehensive frontend code audits and performance reviews for customer implementations, ensuring strict adherence to Alokai best practices, web security, and optimal runtime speed.
* Accurate Estimation & Delivery: Provide highly reliable technical effort estimations for architectural changes and integrations, ensuring delivery timelines are met and client expectations are perfectly managed.
* Deploy & Monitor in Cloud Environments: Leverage Alokai Cloud and Alokai Console to push updates, test new capabilities, and track overall system health, performance, and performance-impacting trends.
* Provide Professional Services Globally: While your initial focus will be a premiere consumer electronics account, you will also act as a senior technical consultant and trusted advisor for other top-tier Alokai enterprise customers within our professional services portfolio.
* Feed Product Insights & Close the Loop: Identify common integration hurdles, framework limitations, or edge cases while deploying Alokai for enterprise clients, and actively feed this constructive feedback back to our core product team (primarily Europe-based) to help continuously improve the Alokai platform.
* Collaborate Globally: Work closely with a distributed team of engineers, CSMs, and product managers across APAC, AMER, and European timezones. Actively participate in architecture reviews, code audits, and client-facing workshops.
Required Skills & Qualifications
* Enterprise-Level Architecture: 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3 years operating as a Solution Architect, Lead Frontend Engineer, or Technical Consultant for large-scale enterprise e-commerce platforms.
* Frontend Mastery (Next.js & React): Deep, \"inside-out\" production-level expertise in Next.js, React, TypeScript, and modern Server-Side Rendering (SSR) and Incremental Static Regeneration (ISR) strategies.
* SAP Commerce Cloud (Hybris) Fluency: Direct, practical experience integrating frontends with SAP Commerce Cloud via OCC REST APIs. You must speak the language of SAP data models, cart calculations, and content delivery structures.
* SmartEdit Experience: Prior experience implementing, extending, or maintaining SAP SmartEdit context and live-previews within a headless/decoupled frontend architecture.
* MACH Principles: Strong conceptual and hands-on understanding of MACH (Micro-services, API-first, Cloud-native, Headless) principles.
* BFF & API Design (Alokai Connect): Strong experience building and maintaining Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) layers, Node.js middleware, GraphQL gateways, and custom API integrations (including payment and checkout platforms). Direct familiarity with Alokai’s Unified Data Layer (UDL) mapping is highly advantageous.
* C-Level Communication Skills: Near-native, highly confident English verbal and written communication skills. You must be comfortable leading high-stakes technical workshops, leading sprint planning, and confidently explaining complex architectural concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, up to C-level executives.
* Autonomy & Self-Onboarding: A proven track record of entering complex enterprise environments, identifying integration patterns, and onboarding yourself onto local codebases with minimal supervision (\"knowing your stuff\" from day one).
* Timezone Flexibility: Located in LATAM, with the professional maturity and willingness to adjust working hours to facilitate syncs, standups, and active collaboration with our global teams in APAC and Europe.
