About the opportunity:
What You’ll Do Everyday:
- Design and develop the code driven interfaces between our data platform and a variety of internal and external services.
- Take projects from initial requirements gathering through to production deployment and proactive monitoring.
- Build scalable transformations in dbt.
- Design systems that balance technical excellence with business needs, focusing on reliability and long term maintainability.
- Leverage AI assisted coding tools (Cursor, Claude) to increase development velocity and deliver high-quality solutions faster.
- Partner with Engineering, Product and Analytics teams to solve complex but interesting data challenges.
Skills/Experience - Minimum Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering with a strong foundation in system design.
- This is a coding heavy role. You must be able to write production-grade, modular Python code.
- Expert level proficiency in SQL, complex data modeling and BigQuery performance optimization.
- Deep experience with the Data stack of Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, Composer, Dataflow etc) is required.
- Proven success building integrations with API clients to fetch or send data and streaming platforms.
- Advanced hands-on experience with dbt (incremental models, testing and project organization).
- Active experience using AI coding tools to enhance productivity and code quality.
- Expert command of Git, CI/CD workflows and Docker/Kubernetes.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Desired Skills - Preferred Requirements
- Knowledge of or familiarity with data design patterns like Medallion.
- Experience with Terraform/Atlantis.
