We are seeking an Early Careers Communications and Public Involvement Specialist for our Albuquerque or Santa Fe offices.
This role supports WSP projects and clients in public involvement, outreach, and communications, and may assist with other communications efforts as needed. It is part of WSP’s National Communications & Public Involvement Practice, offering an exciting opportunity to join a talented national team.
Your Responsibilities
* Serve as a liaison between projects and the community
* Implement public outreach strategies for transportation projects
* Develop strategies to solicit public feedback
* Create messages to educate communities about projects
* Participate in public meetings and community events
* Respond to public inquiries and stakeholder issues
* Manage social media outreach, including content creation and vetting
* Research and write content for websites, social media, and media notifications
* Monitor media coverage and escalate issues as needed
* Respond to media requests promptly
* Analyze outreach campaign effectiveness
* Coordinate support services like graphic design and website development
* Collaborate with project teams on communication strategies
* Attend external meetings and identify community involvement opportunities
* Build relationships with clients and support business development
* Communicate clearly with diverse audiences
* Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required:
* Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or related field
* 0-1 years of experience in a technical industry or related field
* Ability to work some nights and weekends
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Organizational and creative skills
* Experience writing for websites, social media, and media notifications
* Ability to simplify complex information
* Attention to detail and proofreading skills
* Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
* Proficiency in social media outreach
* Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite)
* Teamwork and initiative
* Effective public interaction skills
Preferred:
* Experience with infrastructure or transportation projects
