About the Company Our client is a well-established Hong Kong-based multinational trading group with expanding operations across South America. They are seeking a seasoned Trading Director to lead their mining and / or food commodities trading business in the region.
Key Responsibilities
Lead business development and market expansion across South America (primarily Brazil, Argentina, and surrounding countries)
Build and maintain long-term strategic relationships with key customers, suppliers, and partners
Oversee all daily trading operations including sourcing, sales, logistics, pricing, and risk management
Develop and execute regional profit strategies to drive sustainable growth and strong financial performance
Act as the company's senior representative in South America, ensuring alignment between local operations and global headquarters
Collaborate closely with the Hong Kong / China headquarters and provide regular performance updates to senior management
Requirements
Minimum 8 years of proven trading experience, with a strong track record in mining (metals, minerals) and / or food commodities (grains, oilseeds, sugar, etc.)
Extensive business development and deal-execution experience in South America
Fluency in English and Portuguese (both written and spoken) is mandatory
Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese will be a significant advantage
Strong cross-cultural communication and leadership skills; comfortable operating in diverse international environments
Excellent problem-solving abilities and deep understanding of cross-border trade regulations, logistics, and financing
Willingness to relocate long-term to Brazil or Argentina
