This role is in the **Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS)** organization, supporting the **GMNS Operational Excellence team.
** GMNS manages the relationships with the millions of merchants around the world that accept American Express and runs the company's payment network and manages bank partnerships globally.
The GMNS Operational Excellence supports GMNS business partners by delivering sound risk expertise and insights that help enable business priorities while fulfilling internal and external control and compliance expectations.
**Key Job Responsibilities**:
This newly created GMNS Regulatory Projects and Program Management role will be responsible for supporting critical regulatory and compliance programs for the business unit globally.
The role will focus on risk-related program and project management, tactical execution of regulatory and policy projects, and streamlining and executing cross-functional operational processes.
The position will be focused primarily on supporting initiatives across the LAC market.
Responsibilities include:
- Operationalizing a newly created Risk Management Program in Brazil, including:
- Providing oversight and guidance related to the program.
- Managing the policies, procedures and documentation related to the program.
- Coordinating activities related to program requirements, evaluating performance, and providing reporting related to program effectiveness,
- Ensuring timely completion of relevant regulatory and compliance program deliverables.
- Supporting remediation efforts related to relevant regulatory or compliance programs.
- Coordinating and driving alignment of key decisions with cross-functional internal and external partners.
**Required Skills/Qualifications**:
- Seasoned self-starter with strong project management experience in driving complex, large-scale, cross-functional initiatives.
- Proven ability to work autonomously and adjust quickly to shifting priorities, multiple demands, ambiguity, and rapid change.
- Problem solver and agile decision-maker with solid analytical skills.
- Resilient team player with ability to influence opinions across all levels without having direct authority.
- Ability to develop relationships with leaders, colleagues, and control and compliance teams.
- Exposure to regulatory and policy compliance activities with a strong control mindset.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Flexibility with work hours due to global nature of the role.
- English and Portuguese are required; additionally Spanish preferred.
**Preferred skills/qualifications**:
- Knowledge, understanding and experience of a payments system/network business, related regulatory landscape, and supporting technology infrastructure.
- Project qualification or certification preferred.
- BA or BS (or equivalent) degree preferred.
- Experience working with Audit, Operational Risk, Compliance, Technology, and/or Customer Service teams.
