Supervises: IT Systems Manager, Network & Communication Engineer, Business Application Programmer, IT Programmer, SAP Basis Engineer, Technical Support Specialist
Basic Function
The Head of IT ensures the effective use of information technology within the organization to achieve business goals, improve operational efficiency, and enhance client service. This role provides strategic leadership in IT systems, infrastructure, and applications while ensuring compliance with internal controls, audits, and regulatory requirements.
Scope of Work
This position covers the planning, organizing, directing, implementation, evaluation, and control of IT-related activities across systems development, network and communication infrastructure, and business applications.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Operational IT Management
 * Oversee the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of business application systems, network, communication, and infrastructure.
 * Develop and manage the IT budget, monitor expenditures, and approve cost allocations.
 * Develop annual technology goals and create detailed implementation plans.
 * Hire, supervise, and develop IT staff and contractors.
Systems & Infrastructure
 * Ensure efficient and secure operation of all computer application systems, IT infrastructure, and communications.
 * Evaluate feasibility and cost-benefit of hardware upgrades and new software.
 * Oversee computer systems validation plans, policies, and procedures.
 * Prepare, maintain, and test the IT disaster recovery plan.
 * Promote interactive online applications for technical and commercial database integration.
Compliance & Security
 * Ensure compliance with internal and external audits.
 * Maintain security of all confidential data stored in company systems.
 * Develop IT controls aligned with GMP, ISO 9001:2015, EHS, and QMS standards.
Advisory & Support
 * Provide IT expertise to managers and staff to enhance business processes.
 * Conduct seminars and training for successful implementation and maintenance of IT systems.
 * Consult with managers across departments to establish IT project requirements.
 * Keep abreast of new technology trends, consulting external experts and associations for cost-saving innovations.
Competencies
Education
 * Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent
 * Preferably with postgraduate studies (MSc IT, MIT, or MBA)
Experience
 * Minimum of 5 years of IT management experience in systems development, networking, and IT infrastructure
 * Strong background in manufacturing industries (pharmaceutical, food, cosmetics preferred)
 * Expertise in project management and systems re-engineering
Skills & Abilities
 * Extensive knowledge of manufacturing system applications (ERP, Financials, Business Warehouse, preferably SAP)
 * Strong working knowledge of client/server architecture, LAN/WAN data communications, and database management (MS SQL, Oracle, DB2, RDBMS)
 * Proficiency in programming languages and tools (ABAP, SQL, .NET)
 * Highly analytical with excellent planning and organizational skills
 * Strong oral and written communication skills
