Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior Technical Business Analyst with strong hands-on experience in data, AI-driven projects and software, particularly in Data Transformation initiatives.
This professional will act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, translating complex business needs into well-structured technical requirements and user stories. The role requires someone highly technical, delivery-oriented, and comfortable operating in Agile environments, including leading Scrum ceremonies and acting as Project Manager when required.
The position involves daily interaction with teams in Australia and regular contact with the UK, so strong English communication skills and time zone flexibility are essential.
Role Responsibilities
* Lead requirement gathering sessions with business stakeholders (Australia & UK).
* Translate business needs into clear, structured, and technically detailed user stories.
* Define functional and non-functional requirements for data and AI solutions.
* Work closely with data engineers, software engineers, architects, and AI specialists.
* Design and document data flows, process maps, integration points, and system dependencies.
* Support Data Transformation initiatives (data migration, data modelling, governance, pipelines).
* Define acceptance criteria and validation rules.
* Conduct backlog refinement sessions and prioritisation workshops.
* Lead Scrum ceremonies (planning, refinement, daily, review, retrospective).
* Act as Project Manager when needed (timeline tracking, risk management, stakeholder reporting).
* Support UAT coordination and solution validation.
* Ensure alignment between business objectives and technical delivery.
* Manage documentation in tools such as DevOps, Jira or similar.
Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience
* 5+ years of experience as Business Analyst in technical/software projects.
* Proven experience in Data projects.
* Technical background in:
* Data architecture concepts
* APIs & system integrations
* Cloud environments (Azure, AWS or GCP)
* Data modelling methodologies (BEAM, Kimbal, etc.)
* Experience working in AI-related initiatives (ML models, automation, data pipelines, or analytics projects).
* Experience writing detailed technical user stories for engineering teams.
* Hands-on experience working with Agile/Scrum methodology.
* Experience leading Scrum ceremonies.
* Previous experience as a Project Manager would be beneficial but is not required. The core skills we are looking for are related to a Business Analyst with a focus on Data.
* Strong stakeholder management skills.
* Excellent written and verbal English (mandatory).
* Availability to work overlapping with Australia (preferably 13:00–22:00 BRT).
