Summary: Performs diagnostic quality radiologic imaging under the guidance of a registered technologist while maintaining proper radiation protection standards. Delivers high-quality patient care and customer service to promote patient satisfaction.
Job Duties:
* Provides radiation protection according to safety standards, using appropriate exposure factors, collimation, and proper distance, with proper documentation.
* Produces diagnostic quality images, processes, and prepares images for radiologist interpretation.
* Ensures correct exam ordering, proper image attachment, and accurate patient documentation.
* Maintains supplies and equipment to meet departmental requirements.
* Documents relevant information such as LMP, fluoro time, radiologist, number of images, and patient history.
* Coordinates daily workflow within the team and timing of exams.
* Ensures images are transferred into PACS before study completion.
* Verifies physician orders are complete, including signatures, study details, and diagnosis or CPT codes.
* Reports equipment malfunctions and requests repairs or adjustments.
* Assists in training new employees, students, and ancillary staff.
* Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of the work area.
Minimum Qualifications:
* High School Diploma/GED; currently attending an approved radiological technology program.
* Less than 1 year of experience; second-year student in an accredited radiology program with completed competencies.
* Ability to handle confidential medical information ethically and effectively.
* Problem-solving skills and understanding of radiation safety and medical terminology.
* American Heart Association BLS certification within 30 days.
* Registered Technologist Radiology (RT) certification in Pennsylvania within 3 years.
Physical Demands: Ability to lift and carry 40-50 lbs., frequent standing and walking, and perform activities such as kneeling, bending, and CPR as needed.
