Job Description:
* Key Responsibilities
* Spot & Contract Pricing
o Prepare accurate spot quotes for truckload, LTL, reefer, flatbed, and specialty shipments within tight deadlines.
o Analyze customer RFQs/RFPs and develop competitive pricing proposals that balance revenue goals with market conditions.
o Maintain and update pricing matrices, lane guides, and rate tables to ensure data-driven decision making.
* Market & Lane Analysis
o Monitor daily market trends (capacity, seasonality, fuel, regional trends) and adjust pricing strategies accordingly.
o Analyze historical data by lane, customer, and mode to set target margins and identify opportunities for growth.
o Develop pricing strategies for new lanes, customers, and verticals to drive business expansion.
* Collaboration with Sales & Operations
o Partner with the sales team to support new business opportunities and respond quickly to customer quote requests.
o Work closely with carrier procurement/operations to understand true costs on lanes, including repositioning, deadhead, and accessorial fees.
o Provide clear pricing logic and talking points so the sales team can confidently present rates to customers.
* Margin & Performance Management
o Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as win rates, margins, and quote response times, and suggest improvements based on data analysis.
o Identify unprofitable lanes and customers and propose revised pricing or alternative solutions.
o Develop dashboards or reports for leadership (e.g., by lane, mode, customer) to inform strategic decisions.
* Tools & Process Improvement
o Utilize transportation management systems (TMS), load boards, and market data tools to benchmark rates and build accurate quotes.
o Help refine internal pricing workflows, templates, and service level agreements (SLAs) to speed up response times and improve accuracy.
