Primary responsibilities include teaching percussion courses (Applied Percussion, Percussion Ensemble, Percussion Methods), directing Jazz Combo, and teaching additional courses aligned with the candidate’s experience and expertise, as assigned by the Director of the School of Music. This position requires close collaboration with School of Music faculty and includes instructional responsibilities on both the Brownsville and Edinburg campuses. The successful candidate will carry the standard academic teaching load for a three-year appointment at the Lecturer I rank, equivalent to a 5/5 teaching load. Faculty at UTRGV are expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to student success, advancing the missions of the university, college, and academic program, and supporting UTRGV’s vision, mission, and core priorities.Minimum QualificationsMM, or equivalent in music, from an accredited university. Applicants will be considered if the degree will be complete by July 1, 2026.Discipline Specific Required QualificationsExperience performing and teaching percussion.Preferred QualificationsDMA.
