About the role
Design high-converting ecommerce experiences focused on performance, usability, and revenue impact. This role goes beyond visual design, it requires understanding user behavior, reducing friction in the buying journey, and applying UX best practices to improve conversion rates. The Web Designer will lead Shopify store design projects from concept to launch while supporting design decisions with data and performance insights.
Responsibilities
* Design high-converting ecommerce experiences for Shopify stores
* Apply proven UX patterns to improve user flow and reduce friction
* Balance visual design, user psychology, and business goals
* Test design ideas, analyze performance metrics, and iterate quickly
* Lead design direction from concept through final launch
* Present and justify design decisions to internal teams or stakeholders
* Identify opportunities to improve conversion rates and user experience
* Build scalable design systems and components in Figma
* Translate business objectives into revenue-driving website designs
* Ensure designs align with Shopify platform capabilities and constraints
* Stay updated on ecommerce trends, UX standards, and conversion best practices
* Recommend improvements and new solutions based on performance data
Requirements
* 3+ years of experience designing ecommerce websites
* Shopify design experience required
* Advanced proficiency in Figma
* Strong understanding of UX principles and conversion optimization
* Portfolio demonstrating ecommerce design work and measurable results
* Familiarity with ecommerce UX research and best practices (Baymard knowledge is a plus)
* Ability to balance speed and quality in a fast-paced environment
* Strong understanding of user behavior and online purchasing flows
* Proactive and self-directed working style
* Comfortable making design decisions with limited information
* Strong communication skills to present and defend design decisions
* Ability to work independently in a remote environment
