Business Development Manager
This role focuses on building strategic business relationships with software companies to source mergers and acquisitions (M&A) opportunities. The ideal candidate will have experience in business development, sales, or a related field, and be able to work autonomously to develop and manage an M&A pipeline.
The process of initiating relationships, maintaining relationships, and ultimately making an acquisition typically takes multiple years. Measurable outcomes, continuous value-add through many M&A conversations/relationships, and high-quality market research are what generate successful acquisitions over time.
* Create and manage a pipeline of potential M&A targets using Salesforce CRM and create market maps to build strong relationships in assigned software industry verticals.
* Meet and exceed monthly M&A targets, such as meaningful contacts and other measurable M&A sourcing KPIs.
* Work both autonomously and with M&A leadership to qualify M&A opportunities efficiently.
* Evaluate the lead database allocation within portfolio verticals to ensure accurate resource utilization.
* Qualify opportunities at the top-end of the acquisition funnel to maintain focus for Portfolio Managers of the business units.
Requirements:
* At least 3+ years of experience in Business Development/Sales, preferably in software or a client-facing M&A/finance role.
* A clear interest in developing long-term pipelines of meaningful relationships as a career trajectory in software investing.
* Previous success in Business Development, working autonomously, or outside professional BD experience, such as entrepreneurship, will be considered.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence and executive presence to interact with CEOs, M&A advisors, corporate development, private equity, and venture capital professionals.
* Organized, detail-oriented, and able to adapt to variable work hours.
* Achieve extraordinary results, driven by a proactive attitude and sense of urgency.
