An international animal protein trading company is looking for a Sales Trader to develop, consolidate and expand its commercial business in the North American market, primarily the United States, but also Canada and Mexico. The role will focus mainly on beef, especially grinding beef, trimmings, beef cuts, offal and bones. Previous exposure to other proteins such as pork, poultry, lamb and seafood will be considered a plus. The professional will work remotely under an Independent Contractor / B2B model, preferably based in South America or Mexico, with regular travel to the North American market to visit customers, strengthen relationships and develop new commercial opportunities. Main Responsibilities Develop and expand customer relationships in North America, primarily in the USA, Canada and Mexico. Manage and activate the company’s existing customer base while identifying new customers, channels and commercial opportunities. Build business across both ongoing program opportunities and spot trade opportunities, aiming to increase volume, margin and profitability. Understand specific customer requirements and connect them with available supply opportunities. Provide technical product support and market intelligence regarding product specifications, supply, demand, pricing and commercial dynamics. Maintain strong knowledge of market requirements, including import documentation, labelling, tariffs, duties, permits, quotas and logistics. Work closely with the global trading team on pricing, trade terms, new accounts, contracts and internal approvals. Conduct frequent customer calls and organize a regular customer visit schedule according to business needs. Requirements Solid experience in international sales, trading or business development within the animal protein industry. Strong product knowledge in beef, ideally including grinding beef, trimmings, beef cuts, offal and bones. Active customer network with buyers, importers, distributors, processors and/or foodservice players in North America. Ability to work independently, remotely and with strong commercial discipline. Knowledge of export/import processes, documentation, logistics, pricing and international commercial terms. Advanced or fluent English. Spanish will be considered a plus, especially for Mexico coverage. Availability for regular international travel. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience with Australian beef. Background in trading companies or export-oriented animal protein businesses. Active relationships with customers in the USA and Canada. Additional experience with pork, poultry, lamb and/or seafood. Contract Model and Compensation Independent Contractor / B2B model. Remote work. Compensation composed of a fixed monthly base plus performance-based commission. Final package will be discussed according to seniority, North American market experience and the strength of the candidate’s customer network.
