Responsibilities
Use appropriate techniques to meet the developmental, preventative and remedial needs of pupils
Ensure that the Educational PsychologyService role is understood by pupils, staff and parents by developing a policy to be put into the staff manual.
Share appropriate information about pupils with school personnel and parents when deemed necessary and respecting the Brazilian Psychologist Code of Ethics and Conduct
Support teachers and coordinators to plan for Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE)
Liaise with Educational Psychology Service at other sites, in order to maintain the same quality of service throughout the whole school.
Demonstrate a knowledge of Psychology theories and select appropriate models and techniques for individual and group support.
Assist Learning Support Department (LS), when requested, to identify and address disabilities which affect the student´s learning in any area.
Continuously seek input from various groups (pupils, teachers, parents) in making decisions about the Educational Psychology Service
Work with pupils: whom are experiencing issues with bereavement, parental separation, socialization, eating disorders, alcohol/drug abuse, depression, bullying, physical or sexual abuse A caring community, striving for excellence,where every individual matters. aggression and those pupils on the Learning Support Register when deemed necessary
Work with parents, teachers and other school community personnel to support the pupil profile and pastoral systems
Support the PSHE programme in the Senior School by undertaking group dynamics with students on related topics
Contribute to annual strategic plans, focusing on pastoral and PSHE development.
Liaise with outside agencies within the Health field (Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Neurologists, Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists)
Adhere to the ethical standards of the school and at the same time respecting the confidentiality of all matters pertaining to the Educational Psychology Service, according to the Brazilian Psychologist Code of Ethics and Conduct.
Initiate and coordinate school-wide activities, in conjunction with Heads of Section/Head of Pastoral.
Present instructional/informational and prevention programmes to groups of pupils, teachers, community personnel and parents (e.g. Parental Informative workshops, staff INSETs)
Work together with the staff development team offering behavior management meetings to staff
Manage time effectively to provide services on schedule while maintaining an organized, functional, and up-to-date office.
Communicate effectively with pupils, parents, staff and other school community personnel
Develop a referral system to be used by teachers for the Educational Psychology Service
Keep records of requests for intervention, observations and actions taken by the Educational Psychology Service
Use technology efficiently to maintain records and to share these with managers when deemed necessary, as well as respecting the Brazilian Psychologist Code of Ethics and Conduct
Managing the Educational Psychology Service budget.
Requirements
A Bachelor degree in Psychology.
A degree in Special Education and Psychopedagogy is desirable.
Professional Registration with CRP (Conselho Regional de Psicologia).
Special Education experience is also desirable.
