About the role
Maintain and evolve Fraud Deflect’s data stack: reliable pipelines, strong data models, and stable production operations on Linux. Focus is improving what exists, not rewriting everything.
Responsibilities
* Own data architecture and data modeling for core datasets.
* Maintain and improve existing pipelines (stability, backfills, performance, data quality).
* Build/operate Airflow workflows (SLAs, retries, alerting, idempotency).
* Write and optimize SQL in MySQL (schemas, migrations, indexing, query tuning).
* Develop pipeline/tooling code in Python.
* Operate and debug on Linux (services/jobs, logs, incidents, automation).
* Work within the current stack (Airflow, AWS, MySQL; ClickHouse is a plus).
* Add basic observability; dashboards/visuals are a plus.
* Communicate clearly; apply strong analytical thinking and problem-solving.
Required
* Strong MySQL/SQL.
* Airflow in production.
* AWS experience.
* Python proficiency.
* Comfortable maintaining systems on Linux.
* Strong communication, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills.
Nice to have
* Observability/visualization (metrics, dashboards, alerting).
* Prior Clickhouse experience.
