Support the departmental mission of promoting and encouraging student success by providing friendly customer service, referrals, resources and campus/community information through the Academic Studio – Student Success Center.Minimum Required EducationMust have completed a minimum of six (6) credit hours at a college or university. Have completed all courses in tutoring content area with a B or better. Have a cumulative GPA of 2.75.Minimum Required ExperienceKnowledge of specific subject matter to be tutored (if and when specified above). Previous tutoring/peer mentoring experience is preferred.Required Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesMust have excellent oral and written skills and be able to communicate effectively in English.Must be able to articulate the concepts, materials and skills as related to the specific subject tutoring.Must be able to lead group study.Must be comfortable presenting or facilitating training and disseminating information.Must be able to provide friendly customer service and peer mentorship.Must be comfortable using tutoring technologies that include Blackboard, Whiteboard, etc.Must assist with SSP special events that include but are not limited to New Student Orientation, Welcome Week, Study Up, etc.Tutors regularly make classroom visits and meet with faculty to better understand subject content area and to connect with students.Other InformationMust be people oriented and capable of working with students from diverse backgrounds.
