Key Responsibilities
* Roasting Coffee Beans
* Operates roasting machines to heat green (unroasted) coffee beans.
* Monitors temperature, time, and airflow to achieve specific roast profiles (light, medium, dark).
* Adjusts roasting parameters based on bean origin, moisture content, and desired flavor notes.
* Quality Control
* Performs sensory evaluations (smelling, tasting, cupping) to ensure consistency and flavor quality.
* Identifies defects or inconsistencies in beans, such as over-roasting, under-roasting, or uneven roasting.
* Recipe Development
* Creates and tests roasting profiles to highlight unique characteristics of each coffee origin.
* Develops blends and ensures that flavor notes meet brand standards.
* Equipment Maintenance
* Cleans and maintains roasting machines, grinders, and other tools.
* Monitors equipment performance to prevent malfunction or contamination.
* Inventory & Sourcing
* Keeps track of green coffee bean inventory.
* Works with suppliers to source high-quality beans from various regions.
* Sometimes participates in cupping sessions to select beans for purchase.
* Packaging & Record Keeping
* Ensures roasted beans are stored or packaged properly to maintain freshness.
* Records roast profiles, batch numbers, and production notes for consistency and traceability.
