Security Research Intern
This internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in cybersecurity research and analysis. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented individual with strong technical skills, particularly in programming languages such as Python, C#, C, and C++. They should also have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively in a team.
* Assist in researching and analyzing malware threats, including Windows x86/x64, MSIL, mobile threats, and web-related malware.
* Develop processes and define priorities for research projects, ensuring timely delivery of results.
* Analyze and understand malicious code, including Windows PE, .Net, OLE2, JS, VBS, HTML, PDF, SWF, ELF, and Linux OS distributions.
* Participate in the development of unit's recommended practices and standards, assuming responsibility for accomplishing group goals.
* Suggest ideas for new detection technologies and contribute to content creation, including threat intel reports and documentation.
* Present about IT security to wide audiences, including customers, internal sales teams, and marketing teams.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
* Strong desire to learn and share research with teammates.
* Interest in malware analysis and security research.
* Knowledge of x86/x64 Intel Assembly (at least 1 year).
* Basic knowledge of WinAPI.
* Executable file analysis skills in a hexadecimal editor.
* Deep knowledge in several fields, including mobile device security, statistical analysis, methods of protection against threats, security best practices, polymorphic malware, rootkits/bootkits, and non-standard threats.
* Good knowledge of file formats and ability to analyze and understand malicious code.
* Some experience in programming languages (Python, C#, C, C++). Fluency in English is mandatory.
Bonus Requirements:
* Hobby experience in security research, preferably with blog posts or research articles.
* Good communication and presentation skills.
* Technical article writing skills.
* Experience in developing tools and documentation for other researchers.
* Understanding of the 'big picture' of the IT Security industry and business.
