Role Summary
We are seeking a Senior Workday Business Analyst with strong expertise in Workday Business Processes (BPs) and functional integration knowledge. This is a strategic, functional role — not a technical development position — acting as a bridge between HR business teams, IT development, and QA.
The successful candidate will play a central role in translating business needs into clear process and integration requirements, ensuring alignment between Workday Business Processes and downstream integrations, and coordinating testing cycles to deliver high‑quality solutions in a global Workday environment.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a functional expert in Workday Business Processes, understanding end‑to‑end process flows.
Write and maintain Business and System Requirements for new integrations and process enhancements.
Act as liaison between business stakeholders, developers, and QA teams.
Translate business requirements into functional specifications aligned with Workday configuration and integration frameworks.
Review current business processes, identify improvement opportunities, and recommend best practices.
Coordinate and support test planning, execution, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
Perform functional validation of integrations, execute basic tests, and identify and report defects.
Refine requirements based on technical feedback and test outcomes.
Support project planning activities including estimates, schedules, and documentation in partnership with IT and project managers.
Business Process Expertise (Critical)
Deep understanding of how Workday Business Processes operate end‑to‑end.
Strong awareness that integration logic is driven by BP design.
Priority Business Processes include:
Hire
Termination
Job Change
Benefits & Life Events
Full mastery of all Workday BPs is not required — strong knowledge of approximately 25–50 core BPs is sufficient.
Ability to apply BP frameworks consistently across different functional areas.
Integrations (Functional Level)
Understand Workday’s integration framework and architecture.
Ability to open, review, and validate integrations against business requirements.
Execute basic functional integration testing.
Identify simple errors and communicate issues effectively to technical teams.
Write Business Requirements for new integrations.
No development or coding of integrations is expected.
Testing & Quality Assurance
Partner closely with SDM and QA teams.
Contribute to test strategy, test plans, and test scripts.
Coordinate test cycles and track results through resolution.
Adjust requirements based on validation outcomes.
Support production deployment and post‑go‑live stabilization.
Stakeholder Interaction
80% interaction with Senior HR Managers across functional workstreams (Benefits, HR Operations, etc.).
20% interaction with VP‑level stakeholders on escalations and high‑visibility initiatives.
This role is not heavily political; strong process mastery enables confident stakeholder engagement.
Direct leadership support is available for executive‑level presentations when needed.
Immediate Focus (First Months)
Produce Business Requirements for new integrations.
Act as the central connector between business users, developers, and QA.
Refine requirements based on technical feedback.
Coordinate and oversee testing cycles.
Tools & Technical Environment
Workday (required)
Workday Prism / X10 (nice‑to‑have, not mandatory)
Flexibility to learn additional tools on the job.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong experience in business analysis, requirements gathering, and process documentation.
Solid understanding of SDLC methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to interpret data, identify issues, and recommend solutions.
Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
Ability to act as a key liaison between business operations and IT teams.
Experience working with senior‑level business and technology stakeholders.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business, or related field — or equivalent experience.
5+ years of Workday HCM experience, preferably across Core HR, Benefits, Compensation, Recruiting, Payroll, or Talent modules.
Global Workday implementation experience preferred.
