Role summary We are seeking an experienced Public Affairs Specialist to strengthen GS1 Global Public Policy team based in Brazil. Working with the Public Policy team and reporting directly to the Vice President, Global Public Policy, the successful candidate will have 10+ years of prior experience in public policy and government engagement across Latin America (LATAM). This role is a unique opportunity to set the foundation of international public policy across the LATAM region (including Central and South America) with a global perspective. The successful candidate will act as a public policy strategist developing and implementing plans with GS1 Member Organisations in the LATAM Region and with Global Office. They will be GS1’s day-to-day point of contact for engagement with GS1 Member Organisations and stakeholders, including governments and regulators, on all public policy matters relevant to GS1 in the region. They will build constructive relationships, provide evidence-based specialist insights, and ensure GS1’s positions are understood and reflected in evolving policy frameworks for traceability, trade efficiency, and regulatory compliance across fragmented supply chains. Education and experience Master’s degree with 10+ years of related experience. Stakeholder Networks: Established contacts across national and regional institutions in the LATAM region and experience in building coalitions and coordinating with multi-country stakeholders. A thorough understanding of how international organisations, trade associations, and NGOs function, and work experience in international environments relevant to the region. Desired experience Sector Knowledge : Understanding of FMCG/retail and consumer goods policy environment (sustainability, product data, packaging, product safety, traceability, e-commerce).
