Job Description
We are seeking an experienced professional to join our team as a Sustainable Urban Development Expert. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of urban and regional areas, promoting sustainable growth and improving the quality of life for citizens.
The role involves working on various projects related to urban planning, regeneration, and climate neutrality. You will be responsible for analyzing data, identifying opportunities, and developing strategies to achieve sustainable development goals.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
* A minimum of 10 years' experience in regional and urban development, urban buildings and social infrastructure, economic development, and disaster risk management.
* Excellent knowledge of EU-funded projects and experience working with international organizations.
* A Master's or Bachelor's degree relevant to the field.
Specific Professional Experience
We are looking for candidates with experience in one or more of the following sectors:
* Urban and Regional Development:
o Urban planning, urban renewal, and regeneration.
o Transition to a climate-neutral economy and environmental sustainability.
o Carbon-neutral cities.
o Land use and transport integration.
o Transit-oriented development.
o Sustainable urban mobility plans.
o Smart cities.
o Eco-districts.
o Brownfield regeneration.
o Cultural heritage.
o Urban/regional climate mitigation & adaptation.
o Territorial governance mechanisms and partnerships.
o Territorial just transition plans and similar.
o Territorial impact assessment.
* Urban Buildings and Social Infrastructure:
o Urban infrastructure.
o Municipal utilities.
o Green buildings.
o Buildings of public administrations and public service organizations/institutions.
o Business infrastructure (such as production facilities, commonly used facilities, business parks, industrial zones, logistics facilities, science parks, research centers, office buildings, warehouses, etc.).
o Re-purposing of abandoned buildings, mining sites, lands, and stranded assets.
o Education facilities (e.g., kindergartens, schools, and universities).
o Hospital and healthcare buildings.
o Tourism infrastructure and assets, shopping centers, cultural buildings, sport and recreation facilities, parking facilities, and similar.
* Economic Development:
o Tourism development.
o Access to finance.
o Employment creation and preservation.
o Skills development (e.g., re-skilling and up-skilling).
o Productive investments in large enterprises.
o Sectorial competitiveness.
o Industry restructuring, clustering, and similar.
* Disaster Risk Management:
o All stages of the DRM-cycle (prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery) in relation to natural and man-made disasters.
* Social and Affordable Housing:
o Projects and programs for social and affordable housing construction and renovation.
o Development and application of social and affordable housing finance approaches and instruments.
o Application of energy efficiency/circular economy/nature-based solution approaches in the housing context.
o Analysis of regulatory and policy issues in countries lacking robust social and affordable housing frameworks.
Language Skills
We require excellent command of English (CEFR C1).
