Meitner Energy

Descrição

Meitner Energy's mission is to transform the global energy landscape by delivering clean, sustainable, and scalable nuclear solutions. We are committed to redefining how the world powers business and industry in order to lead the transition to a cleaner future. At the heart of our work is the ACR300 — a 300 MWe Gen III small modular reactor (SMR) engineered for grid-scale impact from day one. Built on proven light water technology with targeted, execution-driven innovation, the ACR300 delivers high-utilization baseload performance independent of weather or storage constraints. It is the only SMR designed to be both scalable and cost-effective, with the smallest physical construction burden per megawatt among grid-scale SMRs. Our world-class team is based in Argentina, the United States, and the United Kingdom, working together toward a single goal: electrification at scale, beginning in. THE OPPORTUNITY Meitner is hiring an Expert and Group Leader for the Safety Analysis Department to own deterministic and probabilistic safety analysis for the ACR300. You'll lead transient and accident analysis (LOCA, ATWS, SGTR, SBO), Level 1 and Level 2 PSA, and design-basis and beyond-design-basis evaluations. As Group Leader, you'll coordinate the safety case across neutronics, thermal-hydraulics, I&C, human factors, and structural analysis — and engage directly with regulators on safety classification, defense-in-depth, and licensing documentation. This role is ideal for someone who: Has 15 years of in-house safety analysis experience at NPP vendors, utilities, or regulatory-facing roles Has personally owned safety-related decisions, not just authored reports Thinks across DSA and PSA fluidly and integrates inputs from many disciplines Is energized by the licensing dialogue, not just the analysis WHAT YOU'LL DO Deterministic & Probabilistic Safety Analysis Lead transient and accident analysis (LOCA, ATWS, SGTR, SBO, etc.) under DSA Develop and interpret Level 1 and Level 2 PSA Support design-basis and beyond-design-basis evaluations (DBA, DEC-A/B, severe accidents) Apply codes such as RELAP5, TRACE, MELCOR, MAAP, SAMPSON, SAPHIRE, and contribute to model refinement Safety Case Integration & Design Optimization Drive safety classification, safety margin evaluation, defense-in-depth implementation, and safety-related design optimization Lead multidisciplinary safety case development, integrating inputs from neutronics, thermal-hydraulics, I&C, human factors, and structural analysis Licensing, Regulatory Engagement & Team Leadership Apply international safety standards (IAEA SSR-2/1, INSAG-10, WENRA) and prepare licensing/regulatory review documentation Engage with nuclear regulators (NRC, ARN, NSSC, NRA, ASN, ONR, STUK) and participate in audits, peer reviews (IAEA), and safety assessments Lead and mentor junior engineers as Group Leader for the Safety Analysis discipline WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR In-House Safety Analysis Experience 15 years of direct, hands-on experience in nuclear engineering organizations involved in design, licensing, and safety evaluation of commercial nuclear power plants Direct responsibility for safety-related decisions — not just analytical contribution Strong command of DSA (LOCA, ATWS, SGTR, SBO) and PSA Level 1 and Level 2 Familiarity with safety analysis codes (RELAP5, TRACE, MELCOR, MAAP, SAMPSON, SAPHIRE) Multidisciplinary Coordination Track record of leading safety case development across neutronics, T-H, I&C, human factors, and structural analysis QUALIFICATIONS University degree in Nuclear Engineering, Physics, or related disciplines 15 years of experience in safety analysis for PWRs (and ideally BWRs) Deterministic Safety Analysis (DSA): transient and accident analysis, including LOCA, ATWS, SGTR, SBO Probabilistic Safety Assessment (PSA): Level 1 and Level 2 development and interpretation Support to design-basis and beyond-design-basis evaluations (DBA, DEC-A/B, severe accidents) In-house experience in NPP vendors, utilities, or regulatory-facing roles with direct responsibility for safety-related decisions Familiarity with safety analysis codes and tools (RELAP5, TRACE, MELCOR, MAAP, SAMPSON, SAPHIRE) Proven experience in safety classification, safety margin evaluation, defense-in-depth implementation, and safety-related design optimization Ability to lead multidisciplinary safety case development across neutronics, T-H, I&C, human factors, and structural analysis Familiarity with international safety standards (IAEA SSR-2/1, INSAG-10, WENRA) and licensing/regulatory documentation Postgraduate studies in reactor safety, risk analysis, or nuclear systems behavior Familiarity with integrated analysis environments Prior engagement with nuclear regulators (NRC, ARN, NSSC, NRA, ASN, ONR, STUK), audits, IAEA peer reviews, or safety assessments WHY JOIN MEITNER ENERGY? Mission That Matters. You'll help bring clean, scalable nuclear power online — not as a future promise, but as an executable plan starting in. The work you do here directly accelerates the global energy transition. Real Ownership. Meitner is small enough that your decisions visibly shape the company — and ambitious enough that those decisions matter. We hire people who want to own outcomes, not just tasks. World-Class Team Across Three Continents. Work alongside engineers, operators, and builders in Argentina, the US, and the UK who bring deep nuclear, industrial, and execution experience. Execution Over Hype. The ACR300 is built on proven light water technology with targeted innovation — because deploying clean power at scale is an execution problem, not a science experiment. We value rigor, judgment, and follow-through. TO APPLY Send your resume to and include the role you're applying for in the subject line. Meitner Energy is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or protected veteran status.
