The Senior Casualty Underwriter will support the Starr Insurance operations in Brazil.
The new employee will be responsible for underwring and selling casualty lines (GL and Construction GL). This role is based in São Paulo, Brazil.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To underwrite the Casualty portfolio for Brazil based on delegated underwriting authority and with underwriting and administrative support from the Head of Casualty Brazil;
To support the development of Jr / Assistant Undewriters;
Develop new business and renewal submissions for insurance and inward reinsurance to create a well-balanced and profitable Casualty portfolio;
To provide underwriting assistance for Casualty to Starr offices elsewhere in the Latin America region, as may be necessary;
To place facultative reinsurance following Home Office guidelines as well as local regulations, as may be necessary;
Work with Brazil and Regional Profit Center Managers for Aviation, Marine, A& H, Financial Lines and Tech, to develop cross-marketing opportunities;
Prepare Casualty referrals to Underwriters/Managers in Home Office or the Latin America Region;
Develop a list of target accounts and develop strategies to deal with such business;
Meet regularly with local Brokers and Risk Managers/Insureds;
Assist STARR Casualty Home Office and other international operations in the local placement of multinational business;
Advise clients and brokers on products and coverages as a consultant;
Collaborate in the analysis and administration of the Casualty reinsurance treaty;
Request of policy issuance mandatory information (Local regulators request for Anti Laundering & Compliance and Taxes information) to brokers & clients;
Request and follow up of “Large Risks” policy documentation & administrative procedure;
Filing & Documentation of Facultative support where applicable;
Provide & update KPI reports;
Liaise with management to report on results and evolution of portfolio;
Wordings review and analysis of new coverages;
Collaborate in the analysis of specific claim situations when requested.
