They are at an inflection point. Their product is live and working, customers are telling them what they need, and the engineering team is building rapidly.You will work deep in complex backend systems and will be their go-to person for everything data-related: ingestion, modeling, pipelines, and the infrastructure that keeps it all running. This is not a data-first role that happens to touch the backend; it is a backend role where data mastery is your distinguishing edge.What you'll do: Design, build, optimize and maintain scalable features and systems across our Python/Django backend Design and build robust data ingestion pipelines to onboard, normalize, and continuously update third-party data sources that power our platform Own data modeling and schema design across our platform, ensuring our data layer is structured for performance, flexibility, and long-term scale Implement asynchronous and distributed processing to handle large-scale operations reliably and efficiently Own data infrastructure tooling - including pipeline orchestration, storage, and warehousing - alongside application-layer development Contribute to new product capabilities and integrations, working closely with other developers, AI engineers and data scientists Collaborate directly with the CTO to define data strategy and technical architecture as the platform scalesWhat you bring: 5+ years of experience delivering complex backend systems in production environments Strong proficiency in Python and Django (or a comparable framework) Demonstrated experience designing and building data ingestion pipelines and ETL workflows Deep understanding of data modeling and database schema design for both relational and non-relational systems Hands-on experience with data infrastructure tooling, including orchestration, storage, and warehousing Solid command of asynchronous programming and distributed systems concepts Experience building and integrating RESTful APIs Comfort operating in small, fast-moving teams with limited oversight Excellent communication skills and a proactive mindsetBonus points for: Familiarity with containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes) Previous work supporting ML, AI, or agentic systems Experience with the Django REST framework Understanding of Terraform or cloud infrastructure as code Experience in Fintech, B2B SaaS, or regulated data environmentsBenefits: A fully remote position with a structured schedule that supports work-life balance.
