We are looking for Mainframe DB2 System Programmer, who wants to learn and transform his career.
Key Responsibilities
DB2 Installation & Maintenance
Install, configure, and upgrade DB2 on z/OS.
Apply maintenance (PTFs/APARs) and customize subsystems.
System Programming & Support
Provide technical support for DB2 subsystems, utilities, and tools.
Troubleshoot abends, failures, and performance issues.
Manage catalogs, logs, buffer pools, and subsystem parameters.
Support IPLs, backups, and recovery processes.
Performance & Capacity
Monitor and tune CPU, memory, I/O, and SQL performance.
Optimize locking and buffer pools; plan capacity and upgrades.
Database & Application Support
Partner with DBAs and developers on design, SQL tuning, and deployments.
Support DB2 Data Sharing and high-availability features.
Ensure integration with CICS, IMS, and MQ.
Security & Compliance
Maintain DB2 security with RACF/ACF2/TSS.
Ensure SOX/ITGC compliance and support audits.
Keep documentation and configuration records updated.
Disaster Recovery
Define and maintain DB2 backup, recovery, and DR procedures.
Participate in DR tests and ensure RTO/RPO targets.
Change & Release Management
Support upgrades, patches, and new features under ITIL processes.
Document changes and provide technical expertise for major deployments.
Required Skills
Strong experience with DB2 for z/OS system programming.
Expertise in DB2 installation, customization, tuning, and utilities (REORG, RUNSTATS, COPY, RECOVER).
Knowledge of SQL, database design, and optimization.
Hands-on JCL, REXX, SMP/E.
Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of DB2 system programming.
Experience with Data Sharing, Sysplex, HA environments.
Familiarity with OMEGAMON/DB2 Admin Tool and related subsystems (CICS/IMS/MQ).
ITIL knowledge and audit/compliance experience (SOX, PCI-DSS).
