About this Role
We are seeking a seasoned cloud engineer to join our team and work on building scalable, event-driven systems using AWS Lambda.
* Design, implement, and maintain microservices behind Amazon API Gateway;
* Implement authentication and authorization via Cognito User Pools and Lambda authorizers;
* Optimize data models and access patterns in DynamoDB and MySQL (RDS);
* Maintain indexes, migrations, and query performance;
You will also be responsible for maintaining asynchronous workflows using SQS/SNS, ensuring healthy observability with CloudWatch metrics/logs and alarms, and integrating third-party services used for payments, open banking, notifications, fraud/risk, analytics, and support tooling.

This is a remote-first role within the UK time zone, startup-paced, with high ownership. We value clean code, small safe changes, and excellent operability.
What You'll Need
To succeed in this role, you will need:
* Proven experience in designing and implementing scalable, event-driven systems;
* Strong knowledge of AWS services, including Lambda, API Gateway, Cognito, DynamoDB, and RDS;
* Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently;
* Good communication and collaboration skills;
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field;
