POSITION SUMMARY
The Investments and Loss Reserve Staff Accountant, Level II is responsible for a variety of accounting and reporting functions, including but not limited to investments, claims and reserves, monthly accounting close activities, and other finance and accounting projects. This position requires a trustworthy, meticulous, driven, and analytical individual who can operate under strict deadlines with limited supervision.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
* Prepare journal entries, account analyses, and reports for investments and loss reserves, and follow-up on issues and variances.
* Review and reconcile various custodian and internal reports for investments and loss reserves.
* Prepare and present monthly summary of investment activity to internal stakeholders.
* Perform monthly and quarterly correspondence with related functional areas.
* Maintain and monitor financial records to ensure appropriate checks on data.
* Prepare footnote support for external reporting.
* Work closely with external and internal auditors to respond to requests and questions.
* Identify and recommend improvements to accounting processes and procedures.
* Maintain and enhance desktop procedures.
* Provide support to Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and Model Audit Rule 205 (MAR 205) documentation.
* Perform ad-hoc responsibilities, as needed.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
* Bachelor’s degree or higher in related field (accounting, finance or economics) or equivalent work experience.
* Minimum of three years of accounting experience is preferred, but not required. Public company or public accounting experience is also preferred, but not required.
* Experience with enterprise/GL systems.
* High attention to detail, analytical and organizational skills.
* Excellent written, verbal, and listening communication skills.
* High level of integrity, sound judgment, and decision-making ability.
* Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
* Organized with ability to manage financial processes and the capacity to implement control procedures while driving continuous improvement.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, deliver on tight deadlines and work with cross-functional teams
Base Salary Range:$97,000 - $108,000
