My client, a US Software Company, with offices in Brazil, is seeking seeks a motivated individual to join their Cloud Services team as a Cloud Engineer. This role supports and maintains their cloud environments and DevOps processes in a mixed cloud environment while collaborating with senior engineers on infrastructure improvements and architecture decisions. The position involves implementing and maintaining cloud-based solutions using Terraform Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
Primary Job Duties:
* Work in an issue and project tracking system to document task details and track time.
* Support and maintain the current cloud environment, infrastructure resources, applications, and project work.
* Monitor cloud environment health and performance, troubleshoot and resolve issues.
* Troubleshoot complex cloud infrastructure issues with minimal supervision.
* Design and maintain scalable Terraform infrastructure, including reusable modules and structured patterns for multi-environment or multi-account deployments, with strong practices for state management and version-controlled workflows
* Collaborate with senior engineers on cloud architecture and design.
* Maintain environment security using industry best practices and established policies and procedures.
* Support DevOps practices by working with development teams and stakeholders to maintain cloud resources and troubleshoot deployment issues.
* Create and maintain technical documentation, knowledge base articles, and operational runbooks.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of our products, technology, and practices.
* Identify opportunities to improve infrastructure automation, monitoring, deployment workflows, and cost savings.
* Participate in incident reviews and root cause analysis.
* Improve system reliability through automation and observability.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications: The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities that are required for the Cloud Engineer II role.
* Minimum 2 years of experience with systems, infrastructure, or network administration.
* Minimum 2 years of experience operating infrastructure in AWS.
* Experience with infrastructure fundamentals including backup and recovery, disaster recovery, networking, and DNS.
* Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows.
* Proficiency with monitoring, logging, and event analysis tools.
* Proficiency with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code practices in a version-controlled environment (e.g., Git).
* Proficiency in a common scripting language such as Python, bash, Perl, Ruby, or similar.
* Self-motivated with the ability to self-prioritize multiple tasks and execute accordingly.
* Able to work flexible hours outside normal business hours as required.
* Strong written communication skills for email, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
Desired Qualifications: The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities that are highly desirable for the Cloud Engineer II role.
* Associate degree (AA/AS) in a technical field or equivalent professional experience.
* Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar) for improving engineering productivity.
* AWS certification(s) such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator, or Developer.
* Experience administering Linux and/or Windows operating systems.
* Experience managing Active Directory or similar identity and directory services.
* Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to learn and implement new technologies quickly.
* Desire to gain knowledge and grow in the position.
