Your Role And Responsibilities
As an Accountant in Accounting Operations, you will be responsible for specific operational areas of accounting, performing accounting activities, and preparing reports in accordance with IBM Accounting Principles and Common Desk Procedures. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to collect and analyze financial data, maintain general ledger accounts, and reconcile ledger and system account balances.
Your Primary Responsibilities Include
Collect and Analyze Financial Data: Gather information from various internal parties and analyze financial data to perform operational accounting activities, preparing worksheets and reports in accordance with IBM Accounting Principles and Common Desk Procedures.
Maintain General Ledger Accounts: Maintain general ledger accounts or specific accounting record segments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles.
Reconcile Ledger Balances: Reconcile ledger and other system account balances, performing required ledger adjustments for variances and aged items.
Implement Process Changes: Support implementation of process changes in line with updated IBM Accounting Principles and Instructions. Collaborate with senior Accounting Analysts to update Common Desk Procedures.
Support Audits and Compliance: Provide data and documentation to internal and external auditors as needed, supporting Sarbanes‑Oxley Act (SOX) compliance and testing.
Collaborate Across Teams: Work effectively with units and teams inside and outside IBM, fostering mutual respect, valuing differences, building strong relationships, and finding solutions that benefit all parties.

Bachelor's Degree
Required Technical And Professional Expertise
Student or graduate in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or related fields.
Minimum 1 year of professional experience in Finance, Accounting, or General Administration.
Understanding or working knowledge of general accounting and relevant concepts and principles.
Intermediate/Advanced Excel skills; knowledge of Power Query is a plus.
Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to solve complex problems, follow through on commitments, and apply judgment and experience to reach optimal conclusions.
Strong relationship‑building skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
Intermediate/Advanced English (written and oral).
Preferred Technical And Professional Experience
Proficient knowledge or hands on experience in any related Accounting Software SAP, Oracle or any large-scale iERP system is an advantage.
Financial Systems Reconciliation: Exposure to reconciling ledger and system account balances, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
Financial Process Automation: Experience working with process automation and simplification in accounting operations or other workflows is an advantage.
