Through engaging instruction and a safe, inclusive environment, the Physical Education Teacher supports students in developing fundamental motor skills, physical literacy, and positive attitudes toward movement, in alignment with the school's mission and values.Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesInstruction and Student Learning Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate physical education lessons for lower school students.Teach fundamental movement skills, coordination, balance, fi tness concepts, and age-appropriate games.Promote physical literacy, cooperation, sportsmanship, and respect through structured and unstructured activities.Differentiate instruction to meet diverse physical abilities, developmental stages, and learning needs of students.Integrate health, wellness, and safety concepts into physical education instruction.Encourage student engagement, confi dence, and enjoyment in physical activity.Assessment and FeedbackUse formative and summative assessment strategies to monitor student progress in physical skills and fi tness.Provide constructive, age-appropriate feedback to support student growth and self-awareness.Maintain accurate records of student participation, skill development, and progress.Communicate student progress and expectations with families as appropriate.Learning Environment and SafetyCreate a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment that supports student well-being and risk-appropriate physical activity.Ensure proper use, care, and supervision of facilities and equipment.Follow school policies and best practices related to safety, supervision, and injury prevention.Promote respect, inclusion, and positive behavior in all physical education settings.Collaboration and Professional PracticeCollaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and student support staff to support holistic student development.Participate actively in grade-level meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives.Support school events, athletics days, and community activities as appropriate.Communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents, and colleagues.Demonstrate professionalism in attendance, punctuality, conduct, and communication.RequiredBachelor's degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or a related fi eld.Valid teaching certifi cation/license in Physical Education (U.S. or internationally recognized equivalent).
DesiredMaster's degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or related discipline.First Aid, CPR, and child safety certifi cation.Training in physical literacy or inclusive physical education practices.Experience RequiredMinimum of fi ve years of teaching experience.
