Job Summary
As a Sr. Staff Advanced Concept Designer at Polaris, you will be part of a dynamic, global design team working on forward-thinking advanced concept and production designs to create the next generation of extreme powersports vehicles in off-road. We are looking for a designer who thrives in a team environment, can manage multiple tasks and timelines, and is prepared to explore the unknown in design with creativity and judgment. Your role will involve researching, designing, and proposing innovative concepts from inception to implementation for dynamic off-road vehicles and mobility solutions across dirt, snow, and road, including interior and exterior designs for Polaris vehicles and related products.
Responsibilities
* Create unique interior and exterior designs and concepts for advanced and production vehicles and other mobility products using sketches and 2D/3D digital tools
* Interpret industry trends and insights into actionable storytelling and design solutions
* Collaborate with Product Planners to translate customer needs into desirable portfolio solutions
* Work closely with the design team, sculpting organization, engineering, and fabrication teams in the development of new designs
* Maintain a big-picture view of customer needs and future transportation scenarios to create provocative concepts using team and individual research
* Provide insight and recommendations to leadership and be open to guidance and direction
* Stay current with design trends and technology; present ideas to management and leadership
* Work with Architectural Engineers, UX and HFE teams to create new platforms and vehicle architectures with an influential design voice
* Demonstrate passion, courage, and willingness to challenge expectations and to explore the future
* Share expertise with the design team and foster a collaborative environment
* Promote continuous learning and elevate team-wide design capabilities
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s Degree in Design (Automotive, Transportation, Industrial Design)
* 10+ years of professional experience in a design-related field (automotive, transportation, powersports preferred)
* Strong understanding of form and excellent drawing skills
* Excellent communication and storytelling skills
* Proven creative proficiency
* Demonstrated ability with electronic tools to communicate 2-D ideations
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to mentor others
* Transportation Design Portfolio required for consideration; applications without portfolios or website/Behance links will not be considered
Compensation and Benefits
The starting pay range for Minnesota is $129,000 to $161,000 per year. Individual salaries are determined based on education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography. Starting pay at the top end is not common.
