Business Systems Engineer
(Systems Engineer Who Doesn't Mind Low-Code)
Remote – Brazil
$4,500–$5,500 USD/month
About Willow Processing
Willow Processing is a rapidly growing mortgage operations company serving loan officers across the United States.
We're not a traditional mortgage company. We're building the operating system behind hundreds of mortgage professionals and continuously investing in technology, automation, and systems to scale efficiently.
We are a founder-led company that moves quickly, values ownership, and believes great systems create great businesses.
As we continue to grow, we're looking for someone to take ownership of the systems layer of the company.
The Role
We're looking for a Systems Engineer who doesn't mind low-code.
Many candidates see tools like Make, Knack, Airtable, HubSpot, Salesforce, Zapier, and Power Automate as the job.
We don't.
To us, these are simply tools.
We're looking for someone who understands how systems work underneath the tools.
Someone who naturally thinks about:
* Data structures
* APIs
* Integrations
* Relational databases
* Workflow architecture
* Reliability
* Technical debt
* Scalability
And who is comfortable implementing solutions using both low-code and traditional engineering approaches when appropriate.
What You'll Own
You will become the primary owner of our internal systems ecosystem, including:
* Knack databases
* Make automations
* Internal reporting systems
* API integrations
* Workflow automation
* Operational tooling
* Internal applications
* Data integrity and visibility
You will work directly with the Founder and Operations leadership team to identify bottlenecks, improve workflows, and build scalable systems.
Examples Of Projects
* Redesigning database structures to improve reporting and operational visibility
* Building integrations between internal and external systems
* Troubleshooting and stabilizing existing automation workflows
* Improving operational dashboards and reporting
* Designing scalable workflow architectures
* Reducing technical debt across existing systems
* Creating internal tools that eliminate manual work
What Success Looks Like
Within your first year:
* Our systems are more reliable
* Operational teams spend less time on manual work
* Reporting is easier and more accurate
* New workflows can be implemented faster
* Technical debt is actively managed
* Leadership has greater visibility into operations
Ideal Background
You may have experience as:
* Business Systems Engineer
* Integration Engineer
* Solutions Engineer
* Automation Engineer
* Systems Analyst
* Backend Developer
* Technical Operations Engineer
You do not need mortgage industry experience.
Strong Signals
We get excited about candidates with experience in:
* SQL
* PostgreSQL
* MySQL
* APIs
* REST APIs
* Webhooks
* ETL workflows
* Data modeling
* AWS
* Azure
* Salesforce development
* ERP integrations
* Middleware
* Automation platforms
Less Important
We're happy to teach:
* Knack
* Mortgage operations
* Specific business processes
We're much more interested in how you think than what software you've already used.
What We Value
* Ownership
* Curiosity
* Pragmatism
* Systems thinking
* Clear communication
* Continuous improvement
Why This Role Is Different
This is not a ticket-taking role.
You won't be buried inside a large engineering department.
You'll work directly with leadership, own meaningful systems, and have a significant impact on how the company operates and scales.
If you enjoy solving business problems through technology and want real ownership, we'd love to talk.
