We are seeking an experienced and strategic Manager, Data Engineering to lead the development, maintenance, and optimization of Podean’s data infrastructure and analytics systems. This individual will oversee a team of data engineers, provide technical guidance, and ensure the delivery of scalable, high-quality data solutions that empower decision-making across the business.
This is both a hands-on and managerial role - you’ll contribute to the design and implementation of pipelines and architectures while mentoring team members, setting best practices, and driving continuous improvement across our global data ecosystem.
What You’ll Do
Lead, mentor, and develop a small team of data engineers, providing regular feedback, career guidance, and technical support
Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL pipelines and data workflows across multiple data sources (e.g., Amazon, Walmart, retail media platforms, and internal systems)
Partner with cross-functional teams, including Analytics, Technology, and Media, to define data requirements and deliver high-impact solutions
Ensure data quality, security, and governance standards are consistently applied
Oversee the implementation and optimization of data storage solutions (e.g., BigQuery, Redshift, or similar cloud data warehouses)
Evaluate new tools and technologies to enhance data capabilities and performance
Collaborate with leadership to define the data roadmap and align it with business priorities
What We’re Looking For
6+ years of experience in data engineering, with at least 2 years in a managerial capacity
Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, and data pipeline orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, DBT, or similar)
Experience working with cloud-based data ecosystems (GCP, AWS, or Azure)
Deep understanding of data modeling, warehousing, and ETL best practices
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical teams
Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, remote-first environment
