The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) seeks applicants for three (3) faculty positions in the broad area of Electrical Engineering. The department will consider all qualified candidates; however, preference will be given to candidates who can enhance the department’s electrical and computer engineering capabilities in areas such as, but not limited to, electric power and energy systems, telecommunications, digital communications, and applied artificial intelligence (AI). Successful candidates are expected to start in the Fall 2026 semester.
The ECE department at UTRGV has an enrollment of over 900 undergraduate students in the ABET‑accredited BSEE and BSCE undergraduate programs and 36 master’s students in the MSE program. Successful candidates are expected to show a strong commitment to teaching excellence, mentoring students at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and conducting research and publishing scholarly materials at the two main campuses where the ECE department is located. UTRGV is moving toward being Carnegie Classified as an R1 university soon, and faculty being considered for these positions will be evaluated on their ability to support this effort. The College of Engineering & Computer Science has an interdisciplinary PhD program in Materials Science and Engineering and several centers in which the successful candidate can participate as appropriate: the Center for Advanced Manufacturing Innovation and Cyber Systems (CAMICS), the Center for Nanotechnology, the Center for Multidisciplinary Research Excellence in Cyber‑Physical Infrastructure Systems (MECIS), the University Transportation Center for Railway Safety (UTCRS), and the Industrial Training and Assessment Center. Please visit our website at www.utrgv.edu/ece/.
The positions are for tenure‑track assistant professors; however, exceptional candidates may be considered for credit toward time on the tenure track or for appointment as associate professor.
