The role of Project Design Team Lead is to schedule and coordinate the scope of assigned projects that flow through the product design team. This position does not have direct reports but will lead various teams assigned per project requirements, including the coordination of daily activities.
Excellent collaboration and communication are critical to this role. This position offers growth opportunities beyond the core responsibilities, including interaction with the global Siemens-Energy TCP Organization and potential role expansion.
How You'll Make An Impact
* Coordinate and participate in key meetings (kickoff, weekly status, scheduling) and workflows (SAP, Globus), driving process improvements and maintaining effective communication across all cross-functional teams.
* Provide work coordination and assignments with permanent and contract detailers, as required.
* Act as a first point of contact for technical issues, managing team expectations, and serving as a positive role model, with a focus on reviewing proposals to capture scope accurately and maintaining project hours.
* Provide training and guidance to less experienced design team members, assist manufacturing, purchasing, and planning with drawing and materials list interpretations, and address shop issues related to drawings as needed.
* Engage in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of design tools, product standards, and standards for turbomachinery products, potentially assisting with interviewing and onboarding new team members.
* Support the product line's success through collaboration with the solution development team on commercial offerings and perform miscellaneous duties as required.
What You Bring
* Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with experience in rotating machinery, or an Associate Degree in drafting with design drafting and industry experience. More experienced candidates may qualify for a senior position.
* Exceptional attention to detail, ability to see the broader picture, and outstanding communication skills for effective collaboration.
* Ability to independently manage complex projects with enthusiasm and focus, whether working alone or in a team.
* Professionalism and tact in interactions at all levels, along with strong organizational and time management skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, advanced 2D/3D CAD, and familiarity with ERP systems like SAP or Oracle.
* Flexibility and readiness for domestic and international travel (~5-15%).
